Have you heard about amigurumi? Do you like dolls and cute stuff toys? When you learn about amigurumi doll, I bet you’ll go gaga over it like I do now.
Amigurumi is a Japanese word which means stuff animals or toys usually crocheted and has a big head (an oversized one). “Ami” which means knitted or crocheted and “nuigurumi” which means stuffed doll.
I only have basic knowledge in crocheting. I learn this over school when I was still in elementary, which was way back years ago! (Don’t ask how many years ago please! Haha!). As an internet savvy, it’s not impossible for me to come across seeing beatiful stuffs like these. Which as a DIY fanatic too, brings a spark in my inner crafter self.
I found a good website who offers free pattern for amigurumi doll. There are lots, but this one catches my attention because of the Kokeshi amigurumi dolls. I’ve always wanted to have one for myself but mostly Kokeshi’s kinda costly. So I challenged myself and grab the pattern, prepare all the needed materials and started the project! Aja!
So here it is! after so many years! (Haha!) I’m just joking.
Here is my amigurumi Kokeshi doll. Her name is Yoona (I just name her that, It’s cute right?). I made her as a key chain for my daughter’s school bag. She’s been waiting for it for too long now. I wasn’t able to finished this one ahead of time cause I don’t have a tapestry needles I needed for the eyes and the lips.
I use organza ribbon for the bows and plastic black acrylic bicone beads for the eyes. Some wood beads and yellow flower sequin to decor the satin white ribbon that ties the white plastic keyring to Yoona’s head bun. I also put a little metal heart charm in there that has “made with love” engraving in it. For the yarn, I use local yarns that could be bought in bookstore’s for small projects colors in fuchsia and white.
Yoona: “Do you want too see more of me and my friends thru momi Nell’s posts?”
I hope you all liked it! Her sisters coming, anytime soon! Browse below for Yoona’s gallery.
