Will you actually eat black buns, cheese and ketchup on your burger?
Burger King USA just released A1 Halloween Whopper. These burgers will be available for a limited time only. Released this September 2015 and just about in time for the Halloween.
Whopper is a trademark of the Burger King Corporation. It’s a hamburger with a ¼ lb* of savory fire-grilled beef, with sliced onion, sesame seed bun, mayo, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes. If you’re asking about burgers with black buns and black sauce/ketchup, this isn’t anything new at all. Burger King Japan released Kuro Whopper Burgers (Black Burgers) in 2012, but for a limited time only. It had a come back in 2014, but this time it’s complete with the black cheese! How lovely is that? 😀 This year, 2015, they are available again with two new flavors.
The two black burgers that were released in Japan in 2012 and 2014 are: the Kuro Pearl and Kuro Diamond.
The Kuro Pearl is the usual burger with patty, cheese, and ketchup while the Kuro Diamond is with added sliced onion, lettuce and tomato. Everything is pitch black except for the beef patty (with black pepper) and the veggies.
According to Kotaku, the buns of the black burgers are kneaded with bamboo charcoal. The sauce is made with garlic and squid ink. And the cheese is also made with bamboo charcoal.
The difference between Burger King USA is that they incorporate A.1. Thick and Hearty Sauce produce by Kraft Heinz Food Company into their bun. And uses a regular yellow cheese and the usual red ketchup in their black burgers. It is like a Kuro Diamond minus the black cheese.
August of this year, Japan Burger King releases Kuro Burgers with new variants: Kuro Taisho and Kuro Shogun.
Kuro Taisho is made with the usual black burger ingredients but this time added a crispy hash brown in it finishing with a black sauce with garlic bits.
For the Kuro Shogun – onion, tomato, and mushroom cooked are cooked in red wine and squid ink for the black sauce. Top it on fried eggplant and finished it off with garlic bits.
As much as they are looking like burnt burgers. People who actually tasted it were satisfied with it. They say it has a salty taste to it which makes this burger interesting. Some says it will only be eaten by those people who just wanted to say they have eaten black burgers.
They are actually quite popular in Japan. Looking amazing and awesome as they are. I think this is still a question of taste. If you have ever ate a black pasta who uses squid ink to taste and add color to it, then maybe, a black burger is worth the try, right? For me, having the cheese black is a different thing. Will you be brave to try it? Maybe I do! 😀
