Hello everyone! I’ve been on hiatus the past few weeks. Need to take care of something very personal. But here I am now. Let me make it up to you by telling you the new thing I wanna do with my blog this coming weeks. I’ve been meaning to do this a long time and been sitting in my list for a couple of months now. So what is it? I will be featuring a loomer every week, with their corresponding designs that I think is really nice and deserves a shout out. And as a bonus, this week I will feature a hook only loomer. One of my designs inspiration and a person whom I knew knows a lot when it comes to hook only designs, it’s Ailovestoloom! or @ailovestoloom in Instagram. She’s been around looming and posting in IG for almost over a year now if I remember it right. She has created a lot of designs in her own unique way. A very creative and talented woman not only in looming bands abut also in other forms of arts and crafts I could say. She paints, she tie cords and strings, she dance, etc. Before I came to know her, I thought she is some sort of a jewelry maker. She makes, her stuff and she knows her stuff to the bones. I’m not saying this because she pays me, ahaha! Not a dime! One of her designs that she made is the Buddies bracelet, if you want to see rendition of this designs by other loomers, you can use #buddiesbracelet to search for it. You’ll be amaze of the color combos they come up with this beautiful design. With her permission for me to share, here is how to do the Buddies bracelet.
Buddies Bracelet is a rainbow loom design made by @ailovestoloom on Instagram. Tutorial is by her too! Ms. Ai is known to make designs using hook only. She explained the scrolling technique she is known for in looming community. I’ve once mentioned her in my other post where in I based my design Tala with her tutorial in scrolling technique. This design is simple and easy. Looping is very doable and her tutorial is clear as the sun. It has 2 other variations that only differs in the number of bands. With any of the three, all of them are very pretty. But today I will only share her tutorial for the 2 bands variation (original). I challenge Ms. Ai to make this on opaque bands since she posted it made with limited edition bands which is almost nice in any bracelet. I so not actually have a lot of limited edition bands so I always wanted a design flexible enough to be made also in opaque bands. And she kindly oblige to made one for me! (Feeling special)
I made mine in official rainbow loom bands in Jelly Gold and Sweets Light Blue in Turquoise Blue Paradise Mixed 600 Pack.
Here is a picture of the Buddies Bracelet that I made. This picture is just taken awhile ago. Approximately 6 months now from the day that I made it. Looks pretty the same even with all the water, soap and dirt it’s been subjected to. Yes I’ve been wearing this since the day I made it. And I just take it off now for the purpose of this picture.
What you’ll be needing to make this bracelet:
1. Rainbow Loom Hook or a crochet hook that is double ended for easy flipping of bands.
2. Set of bands – As any other bracelets we can also experiment colors for this design. You will only need approximately 75 or less bands to make this bracelet. I used 2 different colors for my sample in this post and alternate them to get the effect.
3. A c-clip. You can use a clear one or the new colored ones. I used the regular clear c-clip with 2 china glass beads in yellow for the closure in this post.
