Got my new Alpha Loom! I am so lucky to have sisters who are very supportive of me and what I do, especially when it comes to my arts and crafts hobby. It was given to me as a gift for my birthday and I am happy because it is on my birthday wishlists! Yey!
What is Alpha Loom? It is a new product release by Rainbow Loom early may of this year. It makes personalized crafts like bracelets and other accessories and items with patterns easily and quickly, as compared to using the regular Rainbow Loom.
This is the front of the Alpha Loom Kit. The color of the box is slightly lighter blue compared to the Rainbow Loom box packaging. In the Alpha Loom box, there is a transparent plastic window, which shows the inside of the box particularly the Alpha Comb.
The back of the Alpha Loom box shows a preview on how it is used and what is inside the box.
This is the contents of Alpha Loom Kit. This also serves as the storage box of all the contents so it is advisable that you keep them. The indents on the inside black plastic material is specially design for the items in it. Which is nice because it keeps them tidy and secured inside.
The complete lists of what is included in the Alpha Loom Kit are as follows:
– 1 Alpha Loom
– 1 Alpha Comb
– 1 Metal Hook
– 1200 Latex-Free Rubber Bands (info on website says over 1000 specially-designed Alpha Bands)
– 48 C-clips (info on RL website says 50)
– and 1 Instruction Manual (with a secret code)
Alpha Loom has 2 rows of 7 pegs each. It is a hard plastic, smooth and very solid. The plastic material that is used feels very sturdy and doesn’t seem to be easily broken or shattered as compared to a Monster Tail loom or the pin bars of the Rainbow Loom. I believe it is built stronger to allow more tensions for the bands to be use in it. It is a little over 4 inches in length and over an inch height.
Here is the back view or the beneath part of the Alpha Loom. Look how solid it is!
The end of the original Alpha Loom should have the embossed Rainbow Loom Logo in it. It also has tiny embossed “Designed in USA” and “Made in China” written near the hole. You can put on something in the hole like a charm or an accessory you made with it.
The Alpha Comb serves as the hook for the Alpha Loom. It has 7 little hook on the other sides and 7 tiny nudges on the other. The hooks are for pulling the bands together all at the same time. The nudges helps to push the bands down the pegs. So you will not nedd to push them with your fingers. The size is 8.5 cm or a little over 3 inches.
Alpha Comb is still patent pending. But also has the embossed Rainbow Loom logo on the front and the same Designed in USA and Made in China on the back. Notice the roung indent in the middle? The thumb actually fits in there when you hold it. It is nice that they put it there for a comfort grip when hooking the bands. It is also designed a little curvy sk it fits the palm of the hands perfectly.
The bands included in the Alpha Loom Kit are latex-free rubber bands, which means it does not contain any harmful substances that could irritate the skin of the users. The material used is the same as the bands for regular rainbow loom but specially designed to fit and function easily for the Alpha Loom.
Clear Jelly bands are the same as the regular rainbow loom bands. The regular transparent C-clips are also included in this pack. The clear jelly bands are used to serve as the core bands for the accesories. It is use as the backbone to help the bands hold together. Designs made on Alpha Loom are called “growing” designs because the length increases as you go along placing bands and hooking them up.
Alpha Bands are specially designed bands for the Alpha Loom. They were small as compared to the regular rainbow loom bands.
The above pictures show the comparison of the regular Rainbow Loom bands (top row) to the Alpha Bands (bottom).
As you can see, Alpha Bands is just almost half of the regular ones. The thickness is also doubled as compared to the regular ones. You can picture the alpha bands in actual when you make a capped band with your regular bands.
Here are the five (5) colors of Alpha Bands that are included in the kit. It has Blue, red, white, yellow and black. All are primary colors. There are 12 colors of Alpha Bands available on the website other colors are dark green, lime green, pink, turquoise, purple, orange and gray. They comes in a 500 pcs pack with 70 clear jelly bands and 24 c-clips. They are price for $2.99 a pack.
The metal hook that comes in the Alpha Loom Kit is the same as those in the Rainbow Loom V2 ones. It ia in its original cream base and silver colored metal tip. I don’t see the need for the base removal part of it, but it has it anyway. Must be, so you can also use it on a regular loom.
An Alpha Loom Manual is also included in the kit. I can see the special mention of Rob (Justin’s Toys on Youtube) for being the inspiration in creating the new product.
The manual teaches the basic use of the Alpha Loom. It has a step by step procedure on how to put the bands and follow the patterns. It also has blanks templates so you can make your own designs. You can photo copy the template and then use it to make your own patterns. You can also find the secret code (scratch code) which you can use to be a member of the rainbow loom website community for exclusive updates and contests.
